Project 2: Postal Presents Rationale

Project 2 was a different but interesting one. I tried to design something that could be multifunctional but also has a main purpose. My design's main purpose is to be a Cookbook Holder with an additional stand. It covers the book as oil or other ingredients may ruin the book. I chose a transparent colour for the shield and stand but a frosted look for the base so it would not look out of place in the kitchen or whereever it may be stored.
The acrylic was my choice because of its sturdiness and also because it is washable.

  1. This is a very good idea. The possibility to send a flat pack cookbook stand, would be a surprising gift, maybe accompanying a cook book? The model is well done, but the clear acrylic is very bland. well done though!

  2. Nice idea. the clear acryilic is very bland i must say maybe making it black would bring more attention to the book wilst cooking. Is it suited for every cook book? Some cook books are fairly large. Would it hold that weight i got cook books at home that weigh a tonn. Its a very good concept though!

  3. What a nice postal gift to give to!!! I like the versatility of the book holder the fact that how it can be displayed in different ways by adjusting the stand.

  4. This would make a pleasant, and very functional present.

As mentioned previously, the use of different colours could certainly add to the final product.

I think the arrangement of the instruction sheet could be improved. I think it's a simple matter of adjusting the placement of the assembly steps to read from left to right rather than up and down.

  5. I like the idea, the present is also fuctional, it could be used for more than just cookbooks. I can see your reason for using colour as well as transparent acrylic, however I think if you explored different colours it could appeeal more.

  6. This product was well made and the concept behind it was quite clever. I like the use of frosted acrylic on the base platforms, as it creates a sense of stability where you need it. I agree with my peers, however, that maybe a selection of colours would be made available for the product to create more vibrance and to make it standout amongst the appliances.

The design is one that is simple to transorm from 2d to 3d. and the colours chosen are sensible as it can sit in any kitchen without clashing. really cleaver. well done
